Only 4 ingredients, plus if gravy is desired, a slurry of water and a starch. And – you can cook it from a frozen roast!
- 1 beef chuck roast about 2-3 lbs
- ▢ 1/3 c water
- ▢ 1 TB brown gravy dry mix
- ▢ 1 TB Hidden Valley dry mix
- ▢ 1 TB Italian dressing dry mix
Optional Gravy
- ▢ ⅓ – 1/2 c drippings from roast
- ▢ 3 TB flour, cornstarch, or your starch of choice
- ▢ salt and pepper
- Mix dry ingredients together.
- Place chuck roast in your crock pot. Pour ⅓ cup water over your roast.
- Sprinkle Mix all over the top of your roast. Cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours or until tender.
Optional Gravy
- Remove roast to a plate and keep warm
- Pour drippings into pan on the stove
- Use 1/2 cup drippings and starch to make a slurry
- Whisk back into the pan, and heat to simmer, whisking, until thickened
